Windows Hello Fingerprint Scanner is not working after latest BIOS update.
Hi, My Windows Hello Fingerprint Scanner is not working after the latest BIOS update. I have already updated the Biometric Driver from the device manager and even contacted the Windows Support. However the issue is not resolved. Please help as I am unable to use the Fingerprint to sign-in.

Hi,
The support from Dell checked and stated currently the latest BIOS is 2.2.0. However before the support contacted. I searched various articles regarding this is in Dell support websites and found the option of downgrading the version BIOS to previous version. So the fingerprint scanner is working fine with it. Dell has removed the updated version of the BIOS which was creating the problem. The support also mentioned that with BIOS 2.2.0 there is no issue.

I have the same problem. Please fix it.
Update
I called the support center. They recommend downgrading the bios. I needed to download the previous version from Dell internet site and execute it. It was an EXE file that downgraded the bios on my Inspiron laptop from the last version 2.3.0 to 2.2.0, and the problem is solved. However, this is a temporary solution as the bios upgrade is needed for security issues, and this should be solved by Dell as soon as possible.

Hi,
Yes. The problem is resolved by downgrading the BIOS to the previous version. Please take this to the attention of Dell software engineers to resolve it. For more information in my case, I have a Dell Inspiron 5482 and I downgraded the last Bios Update from version 2.3.0 to 2.2.0 using the following file that is available on Dell site.
Inspiron_5480_5488_5580_5482_5582_Vostro_5481_5581_2.2.0.exe

Thank you for your message. This issue has been escalated to the BIOS team. The temporary fix, for now, is to downgrade the BIOS to version 2.2.0.
The BIOS engineering team is working on a BIOS update. New BIOS 2.4.0 will web posted at the end of Jul 2019 to prevent the issue from happening.
