Hi noah123:

The blue Check for Updates button on your G15 support page will not function correctly if SupportAssist is not installed and/or is not working correctly.

The current SupportAssist v4.0.3 is very buggy and at this point your best option might be to simply uninstall SupportAssist until a newer version is released and use an alternate utility like Dell Update v5.x to check for available updates.  See Dell employee DELL-Chris M's 10-Jun-2024 SupportAssist, "Hardware scan fails", "We ran into a problem" for details about some of the known bugs in SupportAssist v4.0.3.

Dell Update v5.x does not automatically load at Windows startup and run in the background like SupportAssist and it has fewer features than SupportAssist (i.e., Dell Update will check for available updates that match your unique Service tag but it can't optimize your system or run hardware diagnostics). There are also many different editions of Dell Update v5.x (e.g., Dell Update for Windows Universal v5.4.0, Dell Command | Update for Windows Universal v5.3.0, etc.) so if you aren't sure which edition is compatible with your Dell computer model please post back and let us know your Windows operating system and the full model number of your G15 (e.g., Dell G15 5510, Dell G15 5515 Ryzen Edition, etc.).

NOTE: I personally found that SupportAssist was too buggy and consumed too many system resources so I uninstalled SupportAssist after the service warranty for my Inspiron 5584 expired.  I currently use Dell Update for Windows Universal v5.x (which will reach end of support in January 2025) to check for available updates and I can run the F12 ePSA (enhanced Pre-boot System Assessment) from my Dell BIOS if I want to run Dell hardware diagnostics.
