Vostro 7620 Internal Camera Stops working
Starting about 3 months ago, Internal camera would stop working in the middle of a zoom or Teams call. Added an external camera. The external camera started doing the same thing.
I figured it was a driver issue. Trouble shot it for quite a while before deciding to reload the OS.
I have tried through Windows 11 to reset the system. Both keeping all data and wiping all data. Didn't help. Problem still exists.
I tried loading the OS from USB drive. Same issue.
I started using the Dell Assist built into the BIOS to reload. Same issue.
I am not loading anything else. Windows 11 Pro and What ever dell adds. But it did the same thing with out the dell bloat ware.
I also noted that updates were take a long time. Like hours. Last time I reloaded the OS (Dell assist) the system acted flacky. I ran SFC and DISM commands and got error 87 from both. Corrupted image from Dell?
I am reloading again, this time I mounted a ISO from Microsoft. See if that does anything different. I doubt it though.
It is still under warrenty.

Forgot one other thing. The internal camera quit like it normaly does so I plugged in an external camera. Both started working.
I also noted that when the camera would go out the Bluetooth mouse and keyboard woudl stop working as well. But would eventually come back.
When the camera goes out, the light goes off but it still shows up in device manager as being ok.

Many times, Windows loads and runs the Camera driver as a USB device. While you were in the middle of a Zoom or Team call, Windows might think that the system is idle and turned off some devices as power saving default settings. You may test with turning off the USB power saving mode to see if it resolves the issue.
Go to Device Manager, open each of USB controller/hub and select Power Management tab, uncheck the box to allow computer to turn off this device to save power. Reboot and test with Zoom or Team call.
If it does not resolve the issue, you can restore the power saving options again.

Thank you for the reply. That makes sense, and I think that was something I did when this first started. But never the less I will try again.
I reloaded the OS from a mounted ISO. Ran updates and Dell updates. I also set the power to not turn off anything while plugged in....Had the camera up and eventually it did go out as expected. The power settings were only in control panel and settings.
I then went in and unchecked the boxes for "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". I rebooted and now I wait to see if it goes out again.

Well that didn't work. Verified the USB are all unchecked for power management and it still crashed the camera. Took aabout 5 hours to quit on me but it still did. The camera should not just stop out of the blue like this.

I went through every item in the device manager and if it had a power management tab, I un checked the box to allow the computer to turn off this device....
I rebooted and now I am trying again to see if the camera turns off.

It could be something in your system settings as the issue is not widely reported by other users of Vostro 7620 at this time.
The camera got turned off due to a power lost is likely still a logical diagnosis. Instead of doing multiple USB power saving mode adjustments, you can create and set a High Performance power options in the old Control Panel. You can access Control Panel through Windows Tools.

That would make sense If I had not already done that. One of the first things I do after loading the OS is set the power settings to max power. No turning anything off at anytime unless on battery. Shutting lid does nothing since the laptop is usually plugged into a docking station with two monitors.
But for troubleshooting it is not plugged into anything.
And this morning, again at 2 1/2 hours the camera stops working.
And it doesn't just turn off.
The light shows it is still on. Yet the screen shows discoloration of the lower part of camera and frozen screen.
