SupportAssist won't run

SupportAssist stopped working on my Dell Inspiron 620 (Windows 10 Ver 22H2).  It worked for years, but now gets stuck on a message saying: “We’re preparing SupportAssist to help you keep your PC running at its best.”  I've tried restarting several times and uninstalling / reinstalling SupportAssist with no luck.

What version of SupportAssist are you using?

SupportAssist Version 4.0.16.0.

I also cleared the cache & temporary files.

Still no luck.

@pepter - Where are you downloading SupportAssist Version 4.0.16.0?

Dell doesn't support Win 10 on Inspiron 620, so it's possible that SupportAssist v4.0.16.0 isn't compatible with your PC model.  Last Dell Update listed for Inspiron 620 is 2.1.3.0, A00 (2018).

Why do you even need SupportAssist (or Dell Update)?  Latest drivers released by Dell for Inspiron 620 was in 2013, and last BIOS update was in 2020.  So you may only need to use Windows Update for routine Win 10 updates, and for any driver updates, assuming there will be new drivers for your system's hardware.
