SupportAssist won't install
Vostro 15 5568
SupportAssist wasn't working so I uninstalled it. Now it won't reinstall. I tried the fixes posted in this community, like uninstall SA and related apps, delete files, delete registry, rebooting, but I still get the same message "Installation failed. Reboot and try again." Does anyone have any other advice on how to fix this issue.
Thanks,
Chris

Hi C_Wilt:
Is this problem occurring on your Vostro 15 5568? What is your Windows OS [if Win 10 or Win 11 include the edition (Home or Pro), version and build number shown at Settings | System | About | Windows Specifications] and your current BIOS version [open a Run dialog box (Windows+R keys), enter msinfo32 to open your System Information panel, and look for the “BIOS Version/Date” field]?
Assuming this problem occurs on your Vostro 15 5568, have you installed the Dell Update v4.6.0 (rel. 24-Aug-2022) application that is listed on the support page <here> for the Vostro 15 5568, and if so does Dell Update run correctly?
Note that the .NET (Core) Runtime v5.0.17 is a new system requirement for SupportAssist v3.11.4.29. Go to Control Panel | Programs | Programs and Features and see if Microsoft .NET Runtime v5.0.17 is installed on your system. I have no idea why Dell would release a SupportAssist v3.11.4.29 installer on 23-Jun-2022 that requires a .NET Runtime v5.x that reached end of support on 10-May-2022, but this outdated .NET Runtime v5.x is still available at https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/5.0/runtime if required. Note that SupportAssist v3.11.4.29 specifically requires .NET Runtime v5.0.17 and will not work correctly with .NET Runtime v6.x or v7.x. From my Inspiron 5584:
If MS .NET Runtime v5.0.17 is installed on your computer, download a fresh copy of SupportAssistInstaller.exe from the SupportAssist for Home PCs download page and save it to your desktop, right-click on the .exe file, and choose "Run as Administrator" to see if the installer runs to completion.
There are multiple users reporting that they have been unable to install or run SupportAssist v3.11.4.29 (rel. 23-Jun-2022) and many have decided to wait for the next v3.12.1.180 installer that Dell started pushing out to a limited number of machines last week. I'm hoping that this new SupportAssist version will work correctly with .NET (Core) Runtime v6.x, but we'll have to wait for the the v3.12.1 release notes before we know if the system requirements have changed again.
