SupportAssist Ver. 4.0.3 Issues
XPS 8950
I have SupportAssist Ver. 4.0.3 installed on my Dell XPS 8950 desktop. I have recently noticed that when running SupportAssist, that Check for updates, Boost performance, optimize network, etc., fail to complete. The result is an error message simply saying that "something went wrong."
Is Dell working on a fix to this issue? Should I wait until Dell pushes out an update to SupportAssist?
Thanks, as always,
John

Hi RealDELLfan:
See employee DELL-Chris M's 10-Jun-2024 SupportAssist, "Hardware scan fails", "We ran into a problem" about some of the known issues with SupportAssist v4.0.3.
I'm not sure why that topic isn't pinned at the top of this SupportAssist for PCs board.

Thanks so much for your reply.
I'll wait for the pending app update.
Thanks again.

When a new version will be available? I got only a minor update for 4.03 back in June.
Thank you

My SA 4.0.3 fails to load. It continuously times out requesting that I restart the app. WIN11 on an Inspiron 5502. "My Dell" also fails to connect/load.

Hi Mike Sullivan:
Did you recently upgrade your OS to Windows 11, and if so did your problems with SupportAssist and/or MyDell start after the OS upgrade?
Instructions for performing a clean reinstall of SupportAssist are posted at Dell SupportAssist for PCs and Tablets Installation Issue, but employee DELL-Chris M's 10-Jun-2024 SupportAssist, "Hardware scan fails", "We ran into a problem" is currently advising that users having problems with SupportAssist v4.0.3 should uninstall SupportAssist until a new version is released and use Dell Update for Windows Universal v5.x *** to check for available updates. If you'd like to try this an installer for the latest Dell Update for Windows Universal v5.4.0 (Dell-Update-Windows-Universal-Application_HG1TN_WIN_5.4.0_A00.EXE, rel. 31-Jul-2024) is posted on your Inspiron 5502 support page at https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/inspiron-15-5502-laptop/drivers.
*** Just note that Dell, in their infinite wisdom, is planning to discontinue Dell Update v5.x at the end of 2024. See my 09-May-2024 topic Support for Dell Update / Alienware Update Ending December 2024 for more information.

What version of MyDell are you using, and does it run correctly after SupportAssist v4.0. is uninstalled?
If you use the "legacy" MyDell v2.x UWP (Universal Windows Platform / Microsoft Store) app and have the latest MyDell v2.2.6.0 app (check the version in Settings | Apps | Apps and Features) then make sure you also have Fusion Service v2.2.14.0 (available on your Inspiron 5502 support page <here>) installed, since the latest Fusion Service is a system requirement for MyDell v2.2.6.0. If you already have the latest versions of MyDell and Fusion Service then see both of my posts in SteelPenguin's 11-Aug-2023 After system restore no longer have MY DELL software???? for hints on how to reinstall the "legacy" MyDell v2.x UWP app.
Note that Dell has released a "new" MyDell v3.x application that ships with most computer models sold after January 2023. Unfortunately, I don't see a .exe installer for the current MyDell 3.2.308.1 on your Inspiron 5502 support page <here>, so I assume your computer model is not compatible. If your Inspiron 5502 was compatible with MyDell v3.x it would also be listed in the "Compatible Systems" section of the release notes <here> for the MyDell v3.2.308.1 installer.

Ditto. I was going to try deleting and re-installing, but based on what I read here, that is a dead-=end.
