SupportAssist Restore slow Windows Cumulative Updates
So I am thinking my organization cannot be the only one experiencing this but when we get new Dell computers or use Dell SupportAssist restore to reinstall Windows the computers take forever and often fail on installing Windows Updates. Especially the Cumulative Updates. We have thousands of Dell computers and they all act like this. Many times we end up doing a repair install or install Windows over the top to fix these issues.
Now if we just use a downloaded version of Windows Pro and install the Updates go a lot smoother. The problem with this is the lack of drivers for models that often affect functionality like keyboards and touchpads.
Didn't used to be this way with Windows 10 and even early on with Windows 11 but since 23H2 and 24H2 this has been a painful issue for us.

Thank you for your reply. I guess on some level I am glad it is not just us but I want to know what is wrong with Dell's image that is causing this.

YEs, strange. When we wipe trough intune cumulative updates take forever. Like a full day sometimes.
If we creat an own usb stick, remove all drives except one, and reinstall fresh image created by ourselves whe are done within an hour totally.
I wonder why this is the case as well.
