SupportAssist-NOTHING works anymore!

Windows 10. Support Assist stopped working today--just hangs on the SCAN. Won't let me cancel or exit--had to stop the process in Task Manager. Wouldn't let me uninstall either--just hangs. Re-downloaded and tried to install a fresh version -- hangs there too. Won't even let me cancel the installation. What's the problem with SupportAssist?
