I have the same problem. Removing SupportAssist was a challenge on it's own. Please help DELL! I've been wasting a lot of time on this issue and reading the numerous threads , it seems I'm not alone!
thank you in advance
Hi everyone, just wanted to let you know, I did a clean install of Windows and Dell Update and Dell SupportAssist is working great again.

Hi Suvakas,
what kind of a Dell device are you trying to install SupportAssist to?
Only the following devices are supported:
Laptops and desktops:
– Latitude
– Precision
– OptiPlex
– Inspiron
– XPS
– Alienware
– Vostro
Gateways and Embedded PCs:
– Edge Gateways
– Embedded Box PCs
NOTE: SupportAssist is not supported on virtual machines.
If you are using one of the systems mentioned above, let us know the version of SupportAssist you're trying to install.
Cheers
Stefan

Hello, I have a similar issue. I am trying to install SupportAssist on an Alienware Aurora ALX R1. When I run the installer I get the following message : "SupportAssist is only for PCs from Dell and Alienware".
My Desktop, when I bought it, came with Windows 7 Ultimate, but now I have a fresh install of Windows 10.
Thank you and best regards.
P.S. the version of SupportAssist is probably the latest one. I got a SupportAssistInstaller executable file when I clicked on detect drivers on the Dell website under my computer.

I have the exact same issue on a Dell 380 running Windows 7 Pro. I wanted to use it to be sure that I had all of the necessary drivers installed before I upgraded to Windows 10 Pro. At the beginning of the installation I received the error that it would only work on Dell PCs and Alienware, except that I'm using a Dell 380. I've found several 'fixes' that first assume that it's already been installed because they all want to have you uninstall then reinstall. It's never been installed so loading those uninstaller programs are useless. Secondly, several Dell (I'm assuming) techs answer and give the same cut and past useless answer or they ask dumb questions, as if they really didn't read the whole message.
I've upgraded to Windows 10 on my Dell 380 with an SSD drive and I STILL get the same error that I'm not using a Dell PC/Alienware. What file or setting is the program looking for that's showing I'm not on a Dell PC???
Only real solution answers please....
Thanks
