SupportAssist driver update constantly says Optimize needs updating which has caused problems.

XPS 14 9440

XPS 14 9440

I have a problem with SupportAssist driver update. It started when update said there were two programs to update, Dell Optimizer Application - A00  and Dell SupportAssist Remediation. Product Version: 5.5.13. Optimizer. SupportAssist Remediation installed but Optimizer didn’t and that lead to more problems. Thinking a problem with SupportAssist I I uninstalled and reinstalled it. Next timer it installed Optimize but updater wouldn’t now run but online updater ran saying updates.  So reinstalled SupportAssist again and updater again saying Optimize update but by now history says it been installed  two times! Tried on line and updater said reboot and wate for 4 minutes to allow program to update before trying again.

On reboot found My Dell was uninstalled and had to download from Dell and reinstalled OK.

Contacted support and there idea was uninstall  My Dell reboot   three times and reinstall from a link they sent. Not surprisingly that didn’t do anything and I still have SupportAssist driver update saying Optimize needs updating and on line that there are no updates. Replied to the email support sent on Friday but no reply.

Two queries any ideas as to the problem and what to do and a second one how to get access to members of support with any competence as my experience of them has not been at all good to put it mildly.

Now had support on line. I think Optimizer is replacing MyDell so MyDell with the current Optimizer isn't needed. Whats not at all helpful is there was no explanation of this so I was tying to reinstall what appeared tom be a missing program. What is even less helpful is Support Assist is not correctly ignoring the latest version of Optimizer and keeps trying to reinstall it creating a lot of problems!

Told to manually install app, needed manual uninstall of My Dell then repair of Dell Assist (now reinstalling My Dell). No program coming up now!

@John_72bfd28 Thats a failure as Optimizer installed is newer than the one my Dell uses

@John_72bfd28 One stupid thing is SupportAssist has a link to MyDell and as its not there tells you to get it from MS Store
