SupportAssist Buisness - User Postpone Update
Dear All,
we have configured SupportAssist for Buisness with notification for the available updates. User can run the updates or postpone/shift it. Notification and postpone the updates are okey but we would like to limit the postpone.
How often the user can postpone it? Is there a way to cobfigure it? We would like to allow it for example 3 times within one week and than force it. Is this possible?
BR, Tifoso

Hello! thanks for choosing Dell. I'm afraid SupportAssist isn't something users are allowed to customize on. I'm sorry I can't be of help this time, please visit us anytime if you need technical troubleshooting. Wish you a good one.
Respectfully,

Documentation on SupportAssist for Business is pretty bad. Also it doesn't give a lot of configuration options on the notifications.
a) How many defferals
b) How much time between defferals
Both is not possible to configure and how much time between defferals is also not documented at all.
I have initiated a remote optimization task on the PCs. Should the PC user intervene to perform the task?
When the PC is online and connected to Dell, it checks for pending tasks. Depending on the SupportAssist preferences, the PC user is notified about the optimization tasks or the tasks are performed in the background without user intervention. If the PC user is notified, the user can opt to defer the task twice, after which the task is performed automatically. The notification is displayed for 90 seconds on the PC. If the user does not defer the task within 90 seconds, the task is performed automatically.

Documentation doesn't say, how long it takes between each prompt. Also the Support does not know:
"I do not find anything documented for how long the defer is. It will either show on the system when the user defers it or it will prompt again at the next interval or checkin which is probably going to be around 2 hours or less. I know when updates are pushed, it does not give a lot of time. The prompt's purpose is basically to alert the user that updates are being applied and a reboot is going to happen so they should save their work and prepare for it. It is not meant to be a long, drawn out process that the user can defer for a long time."

Hi @stuepps :
This SupportAssist for PCs forum board is intended for discussions about the home consumer edition of SupportAssist for Home PCs.
Also note that Dell is currently in the process of replacing SupportAssist for Business (Enterprise) with Secure Connect Gateway - see my 04-Sep-2024 post in Shaakir_7's Dell SupportAssist for Business PCs for further information.
Dell removed the SupportAssist for Business (Enterprise) board from this forum about a year ago. The new Secure Connect Gateway board is located at https://www.dell.com/community/en/topics/secure-connect-gateway and it looks like most customers who are still using SupportAssist for Business (Enterprise) are posting their questions there.
