SupportAssist 3.10.33 updating failed (NET Runtime 6.0.9) - Dell XPS 9520
XPS 15 9520
Hello,
I just bought Dell XPS 9520, Windows 11 Pro x64 (Windows version 21H2) and I've a problem with the SupportAssist 3.10.33.
My Dell XPS comes with .NET Runtime 6.0.9 pre-installed, and this is the only version which is installed on my laptop.
After the first run of SupportAssist 3.10.33 the software is checking for a new version of SupportAssist and trying to install newer version but unfortunately after I got a message "Newer version is available, and it will be installed", when I hit "Yes" I got a message: "Installation failed - We were unable to complete the installation. Please reboot your PC and try again". After restarting my computer and running the SupportAssist again, the situation recur.
I've installed all the latest updates (including Bios) for my XPS using the older version of SupportAssist 3.10.33, but I can't update SupportAssist to the newest version.
Should I try to follow below steps to resolve my issue:
Although in my case I have .NET Runtime 6.0.9 installed instead .NET Runtime 6.0.10.
I would be grateful if some could let me know what I should do in this situation?
Thank you,
Kindest regards,
Radek

Uninstall SA

* Under Programs, select Uninstall a program
* In the list of programs, locate and select Dell SupportAssist
* At the top of the window, select Uninstall

Reinstall SA
* Go here to download SupportAssist
* Click the blue "Download Now" button
* On the bottom of the browser, click Show all
* Click Show in folder

I am also having problem installing Support Assist.
https://www.dell.com/community/XPS-Desktops/XPS-8950-Support-Assists-failed-to-install/m-p/8331196#M78758
I can not uninstalled the Support Assist that comes with my XPS 8950 . When I clicked on uninstall in Contro Panel -> uninstall, it is looking for the original disc (file name SupportAssist64.msi , no version number) from which Support Assist was installed . I do not have that disc or the original file nor do I know what version it is , so I can not uninstall it but I found Dell SupportAssist Update Plugin and Dell SupportAssist Remediation on the list and uninstalled them , then reboot , that still didn't solve the problem. I have tried installing ver 3.13.3 using Administrator account (signed out the regular use session and logged into Administrator account) , still failed. I am using the SupportAssistlauncher.exe to install , so I assume it downloads the latest version from Dell. As mentioned in my post, I have .NET framework 4.8.1 and runtime 6.0.9 installed already. I have also tried to install via .msi but it gives me UI mode error , setting compatibility mode under properties for the file does not solve this other problem.

Methods to fix-
Method 1: Rename the New-Dell-Logo-White-Small File
Method 2: Update to the Latest Windows System
Method 3: Reinstall Dell SupportAssist
Method 4: Check for Virus or Malware
