Support Assist Remediation is causing BSOD on windows 10 and windows 11 computer

The laptop is getting BSOD and from the WinDiag and we found out it is the dell support assist remediation from the dell command update, after we uninstall it that's all good until dell command update push it back into the system because it was marked as critical update.

Hi ybmo:

What is your Dell computer model, Windows version(s) and OS build number(s), and BIOS version [open a Run dialog box (Windows key + R) , enter msinfo32 to open your System Information panel, and look for the “BIOS Version/Date” field], and is Dell SupportAsist installed on your computer?  Is this a home computer that you manage yourself, or is it used in a business environment where updates are managed remotely by an IT department? Has your Dell service warranty expired?

See aporocactus' 08-Dec-2024 XPS 9520 Are constant BSODs caused by updated SupportAssist? about Dell.Services.Client.exe APPCRASHs logged in their Reliability Monitor.  According to their 10-Dec-2024 post <here> they were able to stop their BSODs by stopping the Dell SupportAssist Remediation service in their Windows Services, changing the Startup Type to Disabled, and re-booting.  I no longer have any SupportAssist-related programs installed on my Inspiron 5584 but here's an old image I captured in Feb 2023 after I temporarily disabled the Dell SupportAssist Remediation service to troubleshoot a problem Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery v5.5.5 (also known as Dell SupportAssist Remediation or System Repair) was causing on my system.

... after we uninstall it that's all good until dell command update push it back into the system because it was marked as critical update.

I use Dell Update for Windows Universal v5.4.0 on my Inspiron 5584 (which does not automatically check for updates) and after I run a manual check for updates I am able to disable (uncheck) any offered Dell software or hardware drivers I don't want to prevent installation. AFAIK you should be able to decline (ignore) offered updates with your Dell | Command Update utility as well.  See the section titled Select Updates in the Dell | Command Update v5 User Guide.

If you have SupportAssist v4.6.x installed I'd also advise you disable automatic background updates as instructed in the SupportAssist v4 User Guide to prevent any unwanted Dell software or hardware drivers from installing without your permission. If you run update checks manually from the  Home tab of SupportAssist this will allow you to review the list of available updates and decline any update before it starts to download.

but this is a problem with that patch, I think dell should remove it from their app list if it's not working, don't you think? That is why I bring it up here.

Hi ymbo:

If this turns out to be a widespread problem with  the latest Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery Tools v5.5.x update (v5.5.13.0?) then I agree this update should be pulled from the download servers, but Dell employees rarely respond to questions posted in this Dell Community forum.  This is a user-to-user forum, and if you post a question it will likely be answered by another Dell customer volunteering their time to try to help a fellow user, and we have no control over the release of new updates.

That's why I asked if your Dell service warranty has expired yet. If you still have a valid service warranty then see my 22-Jan-2025 post in Brizy99's topic PC not updating because of Dell SupportAssist application fault that explains how to contact @DELL-Cares  customer support directly.
