Hi Viji shajan:

Do you still require assistance? If so please let us know the model of your Dell computer, your Windows operating system, which specific keys are not working, and what language you use (e.g., English-US) for your keyboard.

How are you trying to run your hardware scan? For example, do you have the latest Dell SupportAssist v3.10.3.3 installed [you can find the version number at Options (gear icon) | About as shown in the first image below], and did you try to run the Keyboard diagnostic from the Troubleshooting tab of SupportAssist at I Want to Troubleshoot My PC | I Want to Check a Specific Piece of Hardware | Other Devices | Keyboard? Does the hardware scan display an error message when it fails to run?

Hi Viji shajan:

Further to my previous post, could you also let us know what antivirus and/or anti-maware software you use on your computer that launches at Windows startup and runs in real-time protection mode?

There was a known issue last year where some antivirus / anti-malware programs could interfere with hardware diagnostic scans run from SupportAssist.  I'm not sure if this problem still persists on some computers, but see the solution that garioch7 posted in their February 2020 thread SupportAssist Will Not Scan Hardware on how to create scan exceptions in your antivirus and/or anti-malware software for the following SupportAssist folders so your real-time virus protection does not interfere with SupportAssist hardware scans.

  • C:\Program Files\Dell\SARemediation
  • C:\Program Files\Dell\SupportAssistAgent

In garioch7's case the problem was caused by Malwarebytes Premium but I understand that other antivirus / anti-malware programs can also interfere with SupportAssist hardware scans .
