SA hangs forever saying "Preparing to Clean Files"

I ran SA (SupportAssist) today (under Win 11 Pro) and noticed that it looks completely unlike any prior version. And it DOESN'T WORK. I can't get a version number from it, because it hangs every time. It very briefly says "Checking for updates" then goes straight into "Preparing to Clean Files", where it hangs forever and ever, burning CPU. All the test/check categories are greyed out. What a disaster. Now I can't do a hardware check. Anyone got a fix for this?

OK, I *think* it's fixed now.

The dodgy SupportAssist was installed from the MS Store in mid-October (which is odd because you can no longer find it on the MS Store)!

I downloaded the Dell installer .EXE and ran it; it said that the latest version was already installed.

I uninstalled SupportAssist via Win 11 "Settings". This takes a LONG time, and removes 2 apps.

I re-ran the Dell installer .EXE and it installed SupportAssist (it takes an eternity to install). Upon launch, SupportAssist now looks like it used to, giving me the option to run any or all tests.

And as I mentioned, there is no SupportAssist in the MS Store anymore.

Weird!

Wouldn't it be helpful for a tech expert to weigh in on what might have caused this problem? My SupportAssist hangs while it's trying to assess my system!

I'm on Windows 10 and having this same problem with Support Assist hanging!!

I ran SupportAssist today Sept 20, 2023 (under Win 10 Pro) and noticed that it looks completely unlike any prior version. And it DOESN'T WORK. It very briefly says "Checking for updates" then goes straight into "Get drivers & downloads", where it hangs saying "Preparing", forever and ever, burning CPU.

Looking into Replacing this AW15R3, which I've owned over 4 years.  I've paid, subscribed to the 4 year plan, with the Premium Level of Support, but have NOT received ANY Support to justify over $800 that I paid.   Not Clear that DELL is the Right Supplier to Replace ANY of my Existing PC's, including Several Others in my Organization, at this Point.   I'll be checking my Email to view any Feedback from a Tech Expert at DELL.   Further, I suspect that's a reason DELL Stock has not performed as well as other investments. My people will be reviewing DELL Corp Performance prior to Nov 30th.
