renew support assist

i would like to renew my support assist for this pc

Hi wafulabingwa:

Could you clarify what you mean by "renewing" SupportAssist? If your Dell service warranty has expired most of the features in SupportAssist (e.g., Get Drivers & Downloads, Scan Hardware, etc.) should continue to function normally and you should continue to receive updates for this program if SupportAssist is working correctly.

If you require further assistance let us know the model of your Dell computer, your Windows operating system, and your version of Dell SupportAssist (if currently installed) shown at Control Panel | Programs | Programs and Features.

the warrant for support assist is expired

support assist app has issues 

it doesn't scan through the full steps

i use dell optiplex 3080

intel(R) core(TM) i5-10400 

ram 12Gb

windows 11 64 bit 

build 252361 windows insider DEV channel

dell support assist version 3.12.3.5

Sorry, I still don't understand what you mean when you say the "warrant for support assist is expired". Do you mean your Dell service plan has expired and you are unable to receive support from Dell Customer Support, or do you mean the digital certificate for SupportAssistAgent.exe or one of your other SupportAssist executables has expired and is no longer valid?

If you are on the Dev release channel for Windows 11 and using the Insider Preview Build 25236.xxxx then Dell does not guarantee that Dell SupportAssist will run correctly. Is there a specific reason why you switched to the Dev release channel?

Is there a particular step where your SupportAssist v3.12.3.5 scan fails or appears to get stuck (e.g., while it running a hardware scan)? Did the previous SupportAssist v3.11.4.29 (rel. 23-Jun-2022) run correctly on your system?

Do you have the current Dell OptiPlex 3080 System BIOS v2.16.0 (released 11-Oct-2022) listed <here> on the OptiPlex 3080 support page?  If you aren't sure enter msinfo32 in a Run dialog box to open your System Information panel and look for the “BIOS Version/Date” field.

When you view your Windows Services are the Dell Client Management Service , Dell SupportAssist and Dell TechHub services all "Running" (see image below)? Dell TechHub is a new service in SupportAssist v3.11.4.29 and higher that replaces the old Dell Hardware Scan service - see Dell employee jbilinski's 28-Jun-2022 post <here>.

If Memory Integrity is enabled in your Windows 11 settings temporarily disable this feature and re-boot to see if SupportAssist runs correctly, just in case there is something odd about the way that one of the SupportAssist v3.12.3.5 drivers is accessing memory. The image below shows that my Memory Integrity (located at Settings | Update & Security | Windows Security | Device Security | Core Isolation | Memory Integrity in Win 10) is OFF by default on my Inspiron 5584 / Win 10 Pro v21H2 laptop,  and my System Information (msinfo32) shows that Kernel DMA Protection is also OFF.

If you can't get SupportAssist v3.12.3.5 to scan correctly, install the current Dell Command | Update Windows Universal Application v4.7.0 (Dell-Command-Update-Windows-Universal-Application_JY04X_WIN_4.7.0_A00_01.EXE, released 31-Oct-2022) listed <here> on the support page for your OptiPlex 3080 and see if this app can scan for available updates.

Many users are reporting in this Dell forum that they cannot install or run SupportAssist v3.12.3.5 on their Dell computer. If you suspect that your current SupportAssist v3.12.3.5 installation is corrupted see the clean reinstall instructions that Dell employee DELL-Nathalia M posted 19-Oct-2022 in Michael.Strachan's Dell Support Assist Fails to Install.

Go to https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us?app=products and enter your private Service Tag. That should open the correct support page for your Dell computer model and display your service warranty information. The image below shows the service warranty for my Dell Inspiron 5584 expired on 07-Oct-2020, and if I click the View Details link (highlighted in green) I can find additional information like the date my system shipped from Dell and how to contact Dell support to get more information about my service options.
