Recent update of DDM2 also installed Dell Tech Hub and other software
I only have monitors that are dell. Nothing else on my system are dell components.
Recently I was going to reinstall DellDisplayManger, but when downloading the software by going to my profile and one of my two displays that I have registered with serial number to my account there is a different software. Dell Display and Peripheral Manager. At first I didn't notice downloading the file and installing it, but when I opened it, not only did it not recognize my displays rendering it useless. I uninstalled the software and managed to find the old Dell Display Manager to download somewhere on the website, right away I got prompted to updated to v2.3.2.23, which I did. Shortly after it prompted me to download and install a new "version" of ddm for most importantly, security reasons. I denied it and turned off auto-update which has worked fine.
However, today I stumbled across some 6-7 various dell processes running. Dell TechHub, Dell Core services among others. I went ahead and uninstalled Dell Core services as that was the only software other than ddm which had an uninstall file.
This forced ddm to stop, but it also removed all the extra dell services. DDM was just to start as normal again, and it runs fine without the other processes.
I also googled Dell.TechHub.exe. It is digitally signed, but apparently, this software has the ability to record keyboard and mouse inputs. To what purpose, I have no idea. Maybe it's required in order to make the KVM option work? Something I opted not to install from any of the files I downloaded. So, the question still remains.
What I would want to know is why are all these processes and services installed without my knowledge? It's most likely hidden somewhere in the wall of text you have to accept to install any of the software At least that would be my guess, as nowhere during any of the installations processes did I see a prompt or obvious information during the installation process to install the other components. If they got installed with new software dell display and peripheral manager, they sure did not get uninstalled when uninstalling ddmp. I have never seen the processes after having installed the standard ddm2 software. I can only see it being installed with ddmp, but why would they not get uninstalled at the same time as uninstalling ddmp?
