Problems installing SupportAssist
Having nothing but problems re-installing Support Assist for PC ver 10.3.3.
I ran sfc /scannow
I removed all other related Dell applications, including Dell Update.
I have tried all the uninstall and cleanup tips recommended herein, including uninstalling with Revo Uninstaller and removing registry entries and deleting services.
I get the following errors in Event Viewer with source MSInstaller:
Update 'Dell SupportAssist' could not be installed. Error code 1603
Product: Dell SupportAssist -- Error 1720. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run.
Most recently I am getting a BSOD with stop code REFERENCE_BY_POINTER
Ran ePSA to rule out hardware issues.
I am at a loss how to get this application working again on my laptop.
Warranty ends in Dec.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi @lczerkie
Please try below workaround steps and let me know if it's working for you or not.
5. Remove the “Everyone” permission from “Group or User names”.

Not quite sure I understand, “Everyone” is not listed in in “Group or User names”. Are you suggesting I add it then remove it?
Here's what I see:

Hello! I am facing this same issue: today I started "My Dell" and then open the Support Assistant, which prompted me to update it before proceeding.
Looks like that something failed in the process, so the app asked me to try again after rebooting my system. I followed the instruction and tried updating, but it failed again.
I have searched the Support Assistant in the installed apps list, there I found two Support Assistants and I have uninstalled the newer version (I thought it was broken and it was "installed" today) and the older one is still in the apps list.
I tried launching Support Assistant which asked me to install manually the update and downloaded a Support Assistant installer, which only crashed the system to BSODs.
I have tried uninstalling the older Support Assistant, but I keep getting a 1720 error. How should I proceed?
Before trying to uninstall every Dell Product and install them back, I would like to know if I can try fixing this issue, thank you!

After searching a lot I found a way to uninstall the program in a different topic in the forums.
Here: Re: Can't uninstall Dell Support Assist using control panel - Dell Community
The solution is to use the Microsoft uninstall troubleshooter:
Fix problems that block programs from being installed or removed (microsoft.com)
You can try REVO uninstaller, in case this fails. I am proceeding with SupportAssist related software uninstall before reinstalling it, as you can find here:
SA uninstall/reinstall - Dell Community
EDIT: HOWEVER it keeps failing installing Dell SupportAssist asking me to restart my PC and try again. I think I will just keep it uninstalled unless a real solution is posted here.

I am facing the same issue, can't install the support assistant software and getting a BSOD constantly. Checked the permissions of the folder "Program Data" but the "Everyone" group is not there either.
DELL, can you please provide a solution to this?
Thank you!

I am perplexed with this same problem. Support Assist is there in the programs panel but un-useable. Uninstalled many times for complete installation. Every time it failed at final installation process. It keeps failing installing Dell Support Assist and the message ask me to restart my PC and try again.

If by chance you did everything that is suggested. Uninstalled, tried softwares to force uninstall, change registries, deleted files and so on. And it STILL doesn't let you install it.
Uninstall all Dell programs. Go back to Program Data, open the Dell folder and delete everything in it. Same with Dell inc. And then try and install Support Assist by right clicking and "run as administrator". It should work.

Had issues with Support Assistant not updating drivers, etc. on my Alienware Aurora R11. Ran into similar issues with Support Assist failing to install. After a frustrating period and not being able to find a solution, called Dell. They logged into my machine and after an hour or so of attempting the fix they had to escalate the call, what ever that means. Were to call back tonight (didn't) or tomorrow. See what happens then. I'll report back.

Well we had an appointment for Monday or Tuesday evening. That didn't happen. Received several strange e-mails one an hour and a half before our appointment time Tuesday telling me to set a time. Very confusing since we had a time set. Then and hour later a message asking to set an appointment on other days. Not certain what's happening. I think I have an appointment for this evening. Failing that I'll continue on my own.
I have on order a new X15 laptop which is yet to be delivered and the site has said being built for a week now and they are now past the date promised. I paid for expedited service so I see what that got me. If they do not keep tonight's appointment I'm canceling this order.
