Is there a way for Organization to Omit or control install of Dell Support Assist in Dell Command Update?

Is there a way for admins in an organization to control DCU installation to prevent the prompting/installation of Dell Support Assist? We do not want Dell Support Assist to create restore points, but otherwise do want the drivers that are installed by Dell Command Update.

Hi DBorough:

Just note that the Dell SupportAssist utility itself does not create system restore points. Dell's emergency recovery feature is only activated after a separate program call Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery Tools (also known as Dell SupportAssist Remediation) is installed. See my 01-May-2022 post in vanderwest's Dell Update and Support Assist 5.5.2.16157 that explains how creation of the Dell system restore points can be disabled in the SupportAssist settings if you have inadvertently installed the Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery Tools and don't want to uninstall Dell SupportAssist Remediation from Control Panel | Programs | Programs and Features. As I noted in vanderwest's thread, I have DISABLED the Dell SupportAssist service and Dell SupportAssist Remediation service at Start | Windows Administrative Tools | Services so that neither of these programs can launch at boot-up, and I use Dell Update to check for available Dell sottware and driver updates.

You said you are an administrator for an organization. Does that mean you're using Dell SupportAssist for Business PCs and/or managing your Dell client machines remotely? This Dell Community board is intended for topics related to Dell SupportAssist for Home PCs, and the SupportAssist Enterprise board might be a better location to post your questions if Dell Support can't help you.

Hi talco10:

If you are signed in to the forum there should be an "envelope" icon at the top-right of each page that you can click to open your Private Messenger. Scroll down to the section titled "Private Messenger" on the Dell Community Help page for instructions on how to send and read private messages.

The Private Messenger in this forum isn't very user-friendly, so if you have problems sending a message to DELL-Cares and your service warranty hasn't expired yet you might want to try contacting a Dell support rep via a Live Chat instead by clicking the "Get Help Now" button at the bottom-right of each page .
