INSPIRON 3531

Although 8years old...still going strong. (Inspiron 3531)

However, one hinge connecting screen to the keyboard(left side from front) has fractured causing loss of good connection with wobbly lines and poor reception.

cannot close lid as it's all now out of line .. Does anyone know if it is fixable or should be dumped?

Hi watford2000:

You might want to post your question in the Dell Inspiron Laptops Support board (this SupportAssist board is intended for questions about Dell SupportAssist software for Win 10/Win 11 Dell home computers), but if your service warranty has expired then I suspect the cost of the repair might be prohibitive for an 8-year-old computer. There is a post pinned at the top of that Inspiron laptop board titled Broken Hinge Policy - USA that states in part:

"... However, if the laptop hinge or hinge assembly fails outside of the purchased warranty period, or is a result of customer caused damage, then the customer will be required to pay for the repair and parts using our expired warranty service offering. The customer may also opt to purchase the necessary parts to replace the hinges themselves or have a local technician do the work.....If you are not in the USA, please contact Dell Technical Support in your country to discuss the applicable Dell policies."
