Inspiron 16 plus7620 - usb connected wired mouse intermittingly freezes
One month old computer
System: Dell Inspiron 16 7620 - 12 gen i712700H (2022) 32gb RAM GTX3060. Windows 11 Home.
Problem: USB wired mouse intermittingly freezes.
- problem noted from day 1 after setup of computer.
- random. intermittent - can be a couple of seconds to a minute. Occasionally indefinite freeze. Mouse works again when mouse is unplugged and plugged back into USB port - works again until the next freeze.
- can be on any program. sometimes when closing a program eg - chrome browser or starting a program. or randomly whilst in MS Word or any program. Often coming out of sleep mode produces the longest freeze - sometimes indefinite until I unplug and plug back into USB port.
- tried different wired mouses (Logitech brand) indifferent ports, including connecting to USB on a HUB that is connected to thunderbolt port. You name it, I have tried the different permutation. Mouses work fine on other computers.
- strangely - a Logitech wireless mouse connected wirelessly by the dongle to the USB port does not appear to have the problem.
Troubleshooting attempted
- searched internet. updated drivers - both windows and through Dell Support Assist.
- tried turning off windows power saver/sleep options in power settings, in USB - mouse "properties" in Control panel device manager. Each has been returned to its original state.
- tried updating mouse drivers - incidentally windows 11 always revert back to "HID-compliant Mouse" in Device Manager
- Dell online tech support through Support Assist: spent 3-4 hours with technician, including the technician logging in remotwly, taking control of my computer - uninstalling windows updates and reinstalling. Uninstalling and reinstalling drivers. Told him problem existed at day 1 before any updates occurred. He also disable Dell Client Management Service I think. Was suppose to fix the issue but it did not.
- went to this thread: https://www.dell.com/community/SupportAssist-for-PCs/Intermittent-freezing-for-several-seconds-at-a-time/td-p/7622431/page/4 - so disabled Dell Support Assist Remediation in Services App - thought it worked. Looked promising. The next day, today, I am writing this because the issue is still there.
- I have the latest SupportAssist v3.11.4.29 installed
Anyone with this computer Dell16 plus 7620 with the same problem?
Potential issue:
- Is it an issue with integration of i712700H/motherboard? Defective motherboard?
- Dell software/windows power saving issue?
- stepped CPU power processing issue?
- Is it to do with the GTX3060 integrated graphics? card? The PCI bus/thunderbolt 4 ?
- PCI express issue?
- USB controller issue?
- Other?
Right now I am at my wits end and considering returning this 1 month old laptop. But I have spend so much time on it and hope that there is a solution so that I don't have to spend more time.
PLEASE HELP. If you are Dell associate/technician reading this please help. Or should I just call Tech support to come in? - not keen as I have spent so much time on this already.

Additional: the mouse freezes every time I open NVIDIA settings panel. The freeze on the mouse is shortened if I move my fingers across the trackpad back and forth whilst also moving the mouse at the same time.

I have a Dell G15 5530 with exactly the same problem.
In my case, in addition to the USB, several things freeze on the laptop, such as the sound and network connectivity, but the latter two come back in a few moments while the USB connectivity usually only returns after restarting the system.
Apparently the people at Support Assist have no idea what it is and simply try the same things as us over and over again.
I've wasted a lot of time with them and haven't had a solution.
