Hardware scan fails!
XPS 15 9520
Running Windows 11 Pro - after the most recent update, 4.6.3, Support Assist constantly fails on hardware scan. Have uninstalled several times and reinstalled, but same problem. What's going on??

Hardware scan fails!
Running Windows 11 Home, unable to download Support Assist 4.6.3. I've uninstalled and reinstalled this program along with restarting my PC (numerous times) per error recommendation all to no avail.
Any resolution advise would be appreciated!

My Dell Inspiron 7590 shows the same issue with version 4.8.1.27758. This seems to be the most recent version. I have reinstalled the version several times, removed Dell services, without success.

I also have this same problem. Updated everything, restarted several times as it suggests to no avail. Seems Dell doesn't want to touch this.

Hi ChuckRR66:
Three things you should check:
First, go to Control Panel | Programs | Programs and Features (or Settings | Apps), search for "runtime", and confirm the Microsoft .NET Desktop Runtime v8.0.x required for SupportAssist v4.8.x is installed. If you have the correct .NET Desktop Runtime v8.0.x installed (available for download <here>) it will have the word "Desktop" in the program name but will be missing the word ".NET" as shown below.
Next, open your Windows Services and confirm the Dell TechHub service (used by SupportAssist to run hardware diagnostic scans) and Dell Client Management Service both have a Status of "Running".
NOTE: I no longer have any SupportAssist-related programs installed on my Inspiron 5584 because they were too buggy and consumed too much RAM and CPU (see my 07-Feb-2025 post in ygil's BSOD issues after Windows Updates). If SupportAssist v4.8.x is installed on your system you will see more SupportAssist-related services listed than what is shown in the image above.
If I want to run a hardware diagnostic on my Inspiron 5584 I run F12 ePSA (enhanced Pre-boot System Assessment) hardware scans from my BIOS as instructed in the support article How to Run Dell Preboot Diagnostics and Hardware Tests on Your Dell Computer and companion video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inYLxW2_xKo.
Third, I would also advise you turn off the Windows Fast Startup power option as instructed in Option # 1 of Brink’s TenForums tutorial How to Turn On or Off Fast Startup (see <here> for the ElevenForums tutorial for Win 11) and then re-boot a few times to ensure the setting change takes effect. The Fast Startup power option (also known as hybrid boot-up / hybrid shutdown) is enabled by default in Win 10 and Win 11 but it can sometimes interfere with the loading and initialization of drivers and services at boot-up and cause all sorts of unexpected glitches and problems with a variety of software programs.

Dell Inspiron 15 5584 * 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.6093 * Firefox v141.0.2 * Microsoft Defender v4.18.25060.7-1.1.25070.4 * Malwarebytes Premium v5.3.5.204-137.0.5331 * Macrium Reflect Free v8.0.7783 * My Dell v2.2.6.0 * Fusion Service 2.2.14.0
