Dell.Remediation.Agent.exe keeps crashing
About once a day I see in the Windows 11 Diagnostic Data viewer that the Dell.Remediation.Agent.exe program has crashed. No other problems detected. Do I need to worry about this and is there a fix for it?
Thank you for any input.

Hi All,
Thank you for your patience. For customers experiencing system errors related to the SupportAssist Remediation Service 5.5.16.0 update, here is the Knowledge Base article with instructions to update your system. If you have questions, please contact Dell GHN (Get Help Now) chat technical support Monday through Friday. Click the blue "Get Help Now" on the right to start a private live chat session. Share the private Service Tag with them so that they can verify the ownership and warranty status. This will also generate a unique Technical Support case for your unique Service Tag.
Again, Dell Engineering is aware of the BSOD issue and is working towards a resolution. As many have noted, version 5.5.16.0 of the Dell SupportAssist Remediation service or Alienware SupportAssist Remediation service can cause the BSODs. This service operates independently of the primary Dell SupportAssist application. The best current workaround is to the uninstall Dell SupportAssist Remediation service 5.5.16.0 as per the above article.
To uninstall Dell SupportAssist Remediation version 5.5.16.0:
If uninstalling Dell SupportAssist Remediation or Alienware SupportAssist Remediation version 5.5.16.0 does not resolve the issue, follow the standard blue screen troubleshooting at How to Troubleshoot Black Screen Errors, Blue Screen Errors, or Stop Code Errors on a Dell Computer.

Hi everyone,
Thank you again for taking the time to share logs and additional details. It really helped.
A fix is in progress and is expected in the next SupportAssist for Home release, coming soon.

I have a Dell Precision 7760. I found this problem when my 40" curved Walmart SueVery monitor would not function today -- it could not find either of the DP1 port connections on my CalDigit port device. Notably, this error happened in the wee hours of this morning. It appears that the SARemediation files were just recently installed, on 4/13/2026 (except for the AGENT directory installed on 3/12/2022, probably when I first bought this machine). I'm not sure it's relevant, but MS Office failed to update today, also, with the error: "Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80073D02: 9WZDNCRD29V9-MICROSOFT.MICROSOFTOFFICEHUB."
The online chatter about the Dell Remediation Agent issue suggests performing a clean reinstallation of the SupportAssist software, updating the application, or uninstalling it if it continues to cause issues.

Hi VernK:
What is your Dell computer model, the version and OS build number of your Windows operating system [open a Run dialog box (Windows key + R) and enter winver] and your current BIOS version (open a Run dialog box, enter msinfo32 to open your System Information, and look for the field named "BIOS Date/Version").
What are the version numbers of your Dell SupportAssist, Dell SupportAssist Remediation and Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery Plugin for Dell Update (if installed) applications shown at Control Panel | Programs | Programs and Features?
There were recent updates released for all three applications and as of 14-May-2026 I believe the current versions are now Dell SupportAssist v5.0.2.2900 (previously v5.0.1.x), Dell SupportAssist Remediation v5.5.16.1 (previously v5.5.16.0) and Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery Plugin for Dell Update v5.5.16.1 (previously v5.5.16.0).
