Dell Support Assist stuck in "Preparing" Hardware Scan ...

I was trying to run Dell Support Assist and the program got stuck on "Preparing" the Hardware Scan.  
I tried uninstalling and then downloading and re-installing the Support Assist program, but that did not
seem to make a difference ... What would you suggest ?
