@JunrFig I've literally tried everything but none of them work, once I uninstall I can't again install it as the installer doesn't open at all

Hi JunrFig:

I've never heard of a Dell SupportAssist Cleanup Tool.  Where can home consumers download this tool?

Hi

If you mean the Dell SupportAssist cleanup

feature,

Dell says to open SupportAssist, go to the Home tab, find Clean Files, then click Run Now.

############

Standard Uninstall

Restart your PC first, then go to Control Panel > Programs and Features, select Dell SupportAssist, and click Uninstall. Confirm and restart after completion.

Reinstall SupportAssist

Download the latest SupportAssistInstaller.exe from Dell's site (https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/servicetag/[your-service-tag]/software), run as administrator, and follow prompts to launch.

If Reinstall Fails

Use Microsoft's Program Install/Uninstall Troubleshooter: Download from Microsoft, select Uninstalling, choose SupportAssist, and run. Then verify/delete leftover services via services.msc (e.g., Dell Client Management Service) or command prompt commands like sc delete "SupportAssist Agent". Delete folders like C:\ProgramData\SupportAssist and C:\ProgramData\Dell\SupportAssist if present, then retry install.

Hi anne_droid:

No, we are not referring to the Boost Performance (disk cleanup) *** feature in SupportAssist.  We are talking about a hypothetical SupportAssist Removal Tool provided by Dell that would remove all traces of Dell SupportAssist from your computer, including disk files in C:\Programs\Dell\SupportAssist, registry entries, services, etc. In reality I don't believe this tool actually exists.

Dell has posted clean install instructions for SupportAssist in their support article Dell SupportAssist for PCs and Tablets Installation Issue as well a companion video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOkgM3JUpHM that explain how to manually delete a few orphaned disk files and services that are sometimes left behind on your system after a SupportAssist uninstall from Control Panel | Programs | Programs and Features.  However, Dell does not provide its own proprietary tool that automatically does this cleanup for you.

If Reinstall Fails

Use Microsoft's Program Install/Uninstall Troubleshooter: Download from Microsoft, select Uninstalling, choose SupportAssist, and run ...

That Dell clean reinstall instruction video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOkgM3JUpHM still mentions Microsoft's Program Install/Uninstall Troubleshooter tool, but the support article was recently edited and no longer includes any reference to this Microsoft tool because it is no longer offered for Windows 11 - see my 16-Sep-2025 topic Retirement of Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Troubleshooter for more information.

I removed all SupportAssist-related software from my Inspiron 5584 after my Dell service warranty expired because they were too buggy and consumed too much RAM and CPU (see my 08-Feb-2025 post in ygil's BSOD Issues After Windows Updates) but when I needed to perform a clean reinstall of any of these Dell utilities I would uninstall using Revo Uninstaller Free in Aggressive Mode to clean up any orphaned files, etc. left behind by a "regular" Control Panel uninstall.
______________________________________________________

*** ASIDE:  I always found the "system optimization" scans in SupportAssist v3.x (Clean Files / Tune Performance / Optimize Network) were too aggressive and had the potential to do more harm than good.  For example, see my 12-Jul-2021 posts in ex-jedi's Prevent Automatic Recycle Bin Emptying about the over-aggressive registry cleaner included with the Tune Performance scan (now called Boost Performance in SupportAssist v4.x an v5.x).

When I still used SupportAssist v3.x I would turn off all automatic background scanning at Settings | Scans and Optimizations (see the SupportAssist v5.x User Guide <here>) to prevent any unexpected updates or unwanted changes to my system and would only run "Update Software" and "Scan Hardware" tasks manually when needed from the Home tab of SupportAssist.
