for the past two weeks, when i click on software update at support assist, after about two minutes a message appears saying "

We ran into a problem

We couldn't check for updates. You can select What happened in the Tasks listed below to learn more. "

i restart my computer but the message keeps showing. i have deleted and reinstalled support assist two times but nothing changes.

Hi everyone,

Just a quick update: Dell’s engineering team is working on a new SA version. We’ll provide more information as soon as it’s available.

Looks like they fixed it, mine works now. I  uninstalled Support Assist and got the new version 4.6.2 from the Dell website. I uninstalled and reinstalled on 11/23/24 and it didn't work back then so I think this is a new update.

Where I found the resolution.

Todays update solved the software update scan issue, now the same thing now occurs for the scan hardware - which is funny cause that always functioned prior to the latest corrections....

@jonosmith hi, I had the problem and uninstalled Support Assist 4.3.0 and then installed the new version 4.6.2 from https://www.dell.com/en-us/lp/dt/supportassist-for-home-pcs

@bubzzzzzz Thank you for the suggestion. I have been able to uninstall SupportAssist in the past, then reinstall to the latest version provided through the download app. But now when I attempt an uninstall I get an "Error 2728. Could not access VBScript run time for custom action." Is there any *direct* download link for SupportAssist 4.6.2? The non-version-specific download process always fails repeatedly for me.

I am not sure. This is the link I used https://www.dell.com/en-us/lp/dt/supportassist-for-home-pcs. This isn't the same one that Nat M posted.

As for the Error 2728 I have no idea what is going on, do you uninstall from the add/remove programs on your computer?

@DELL-Nat M Hello. I have this issue too, exactly as alkistonas stated it. I have tried your "Solution" and installing the new version did not help. Now what? I have old drivers and don't know which ones to install or how.
