Use Disk Cleanup in Windows to safely delete temporary files and system files  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/disk-cleanup-in-windows-8a96ff42-5751-39ad-23d6-434b4d5b9a68

Disk Cleanup in Windows does not know about this folder, windows disk cleanup doesn't care about temp files in other software, I know because I had to personally remove some temp files in Dell and other brand such as Geforce Nvidia before, therefore I need to ask here so some Dell experts or developers can answer me...

Hi Jacky1103:

Is there a specific reason why you want to purge the C:\ProgramData\Dell\SARemediation\tempdrivers folder (e.g., do you feel this folder is using excessive disk space)?

If Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery (also known as Dell SupportAssist Remediation or System Repair) is installed on your system and you will rely on that software for performing an emergency recovery if your system becomes unstable or unbootable then I would not purge anything in that C:\ProgramData\Dell\SARemediation\tempdrivers folder.  If you do this could result in a failed recovery.

On occasion, older system repair points (snapshots) created by Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery that are saved in the hidden C:\ProgramData\Dell\SARemediation\Snapshots folder are not automatically purged as newer repair points are created and that Snapshots folder will start using excessive disk space.  However, you can force SupportAssist OS Recovery to purge all your system repairs points if you temporarily turn off System Repair in either the SupportAssist v4.x settings [see the instructions <here> in the SupportAssist for Home PCs User’s Guide] or in the SupportAssist OS Recovery settings manager (Control Panel | System and Security | SupportAssist OS Recovery | Settings | System Repair) and then re-boot your system.  See my 17-Sep-2023 post in alanchown1's Support Assist using SSD space?? for further details.

I uninstalled Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery from my Inspiron 5584 (I replaced it with Macrium Reflect Free disk imaging software in case I ever need to perform an emergency recovery) so I don't know if temporarily disabling System Repair would safely purge your C:\ProgramData\Dell\SARemediation\tempdrivers folder as well.  If you need a definitive answer and your Inspiron 5547 service warranty has not expired you can click the blue "Get Help Now" button at the bottom of this forum page and start a live chat session with Dell Support.

@lmacri thanks for your reply, yes I kind of want to free up about 200MB of space from that folder (C:\ProgramData\Dell\SARemediation\tempdrivers), but if it's important then I will leave it as is.

And yes I have already turned off System Repair by support assist which released about 20GB of space for my SSD, it was driving me crazy that I was losing GBs of space occasionally and I only know about it a week ago.

Hi @Jacky1103 :

Just keep in mind that if you leave System Repair turned OFF permanently then this will prevent Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery (a.k.a. Dell SupportAssist Remediation) from creating new system repair points in the hidden C:\ProgramData\Dell\SARemediation\Snapshots folder (a new repair point is created ~ 30 min after you restart your computer), and Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery will not be able to perform an emergency recovery if the need ever arises.  I would advise you either turn System Repair back ON and start accumulating new repair points again or install some other emergency recovery software to replace Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery.

You could try reducing the maximum amount of disk space used by System Repair in your SupportAssist or SupportAssist OS Recovery (e.g., go from the default 15 GB down to 12 GB) but I often found that my C:\ProgramData\Dell\SARemediation\Snapshots folder would grow to ~ 20 GB before it started purging older repair points, no matter what maximum disk space I chose.

I personally didn't like Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery (I found it was too buggy and consumed too many system resources - for example, see my 14-Oct-2024 post in ispalten's Support Assist, Windows 11, Updated with a new Install, odd things happening? about a "Successful Application Reconfiguration" bug that probably still hasn't been fixed).  As I mentioned in my previous post, I uninstalled Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery and now use disk imaging software called Macrium Reflect Free v8.0 *** to create the occasional full disk image of my hard drive that I save on a removable USB backup drive in case I ever have to perform an emergency rollback of my system to a previous date.  I've also created emergency recovery media (a bootable USB stick) with Macrium Reflect, and as an extra precaution I've enabled Windows System Restore (disabled by default in Win 10 and Win 11) as instructed in the Windows Central article How to Use System Restore on Windows 10 so I always have a recent Windows restore point I can use to roll back my Windows OS if a problem occurs.

*** NOTE:  Official support for Macrium Reflect Free v8.0 ended on 01-Jan-2024 (i.e., there will be no more feature changes or security patches) but Macrium has allowed users to continue using Macrium Reflect Free v8.0 after that date.  There are many other free disk imaging programs like EaseUS Todo Backup and Paragon Backup & Recovery Free that might also suit your needs - see the June 2023 TechRepublic article Top 5 Free & Reliable Hard Disk Drive Cloning Software for more information.
