VMDK backup of SMARTS Application server using Avamar

Hi,

Any one using Avamar as the Backup solution? We are trying to do VMDK backup of SMARTS Application server on a daily basis and the application goes into a lock-in state during the backup due to which the keepalives(heartbeats) are not working between the SMARTS domain servers.

Would like to know if any has any idea on this..
