I agree with RRR. We have had this error a few times (most recently was yesterday). It means the SP in the Symm cannot complete a call-home, either via Modem or Remote Support Gateway. Ususally the problem is some process hanging on the SP, and most of the time the problem is resolved by rebooting the SP. I would contact EMC support, and ask if they can remotely connect to the Symm. If not, the SP may need a reboot.

Stephen

I don't really remember. All I can think of is a problem on the computer inside the DMX, but I'm not absolutely sure about this. We had to reboot these computers sometimes, because of problems like this and whenever we were unable to configure on the DMX.

In our case we were getting a lot of them in a short period because the PSE lab was doing some cleanup work in our array and was dialed in for hours at a time day after day. No that they completed that work we haven't seen it again since.
Just in case you are wondering, we asked if they failure to dial home would generate an alert to the PSE resource logged in to the box and it was confirmed that they would be aware of it and could act on it immediately. The alert would not be ignored or missed because the dial home had failed.
