Storage scope crystal report

Hello,

The customer had migrated all the DMX to VMAX and got rid of DMX.

but when they generate the custom built Storage scope report(its a crystal report) they still see the
DMX and NEW Vmax information.

The customer don't want to see the dmx data on the report but still want to save the dmx  historical data.

what should be done
6.1.0.8.470 is the version

Thanks

Did you remove DMX from ECC console? If not, you need to do it, then you won't see the DMX data in the report.

I will check on that but once if i delete the dmx from console later in future if they ask for old DMX data will ibe able to generate the report as the data base still holds the historical data for 1 year. What should be done then?

Thanks

By default the old data will be hold for a year but you can change it through SRM console Untilities -> Settings -> Trending.

Yes, the data only appears for historical data not current data. And you need to choose Current and Historical Objects in query builder.

i  know that we need to stop the sdm and symmetrix agents then delete the DMX

But as we are having the Vmax does deleting the agents affect the Vmax data collection??

You can take off DMX from the network. You still need the agent for VMAX discovery.

Hi,

Keep in mind that if you delete the V-MAX in ControlCenter, then you will be no longer be able to collect WLA performance data from that object.  Before deleting the object, you need to ensure that any Symm or SDM agents that have in-band connection to the V-MAX are stopped.

Can i be able to see the information related to DMX if needed in future.

Even if you stop the Symmetrix/SDM agents and delete the DMX, it will reappear in ControlCenter once the agents are restarted.  The Symmetrix agent will basically discover/rediscover any Symms with a physical in-band connection (what I mean by that is that the host can see the Symm(s) via 'symcfg list' command).  So, unless the in-band connection is removed, the DMX will continue to appear in ControlCenter...

Don't worry about the V-MAX.  If you don't touch it, it will be fine.  Stopping/restarting the Symm agent will not affect it (apart from the fact that the array won't be managed in ControlCenter while the agent is inactive.
