Storage Agent for Symmetrix failed to complete a discovery

I have been receiving the following error in ECC:
Description: Storage Agent for Symmetrix failed to complete a discovery poll of Symmetrix=000xxxxxxxxx. Configuration and state information will not be current for this Symmetrix.

The primary Symmetrix agent is active and is the ECC server as well.

We have the following:
ECC - 6.0.0.0.393
SE - 6.5.0.12
Sym Agent - 6.0.0.0.336

Running SE commands on the ECC server is successful:
C:\>symcfg discover

This operation may take up to a few minutes. Please be patient...

C:\>

C:\>symcfg list

I have been getting this error every day, a couple times a day. Any ideas?

Hi AranH,

I recommend opening a Service Request for this issue. We have seen a few customers reporting this alert recently and there may be a hotfix developed in due course in order to resolve the issue.

If you do open a SR then I would appreciate if you could pass on the number to me via this thread - I will then update the Support Engineer who is working the SR with the relevant details re the hotfix etc.

Thanks Aran. I have added a note in the SR for the Support Engineer in Hopkinton who picks up the case later this morning.

Thanks Seamus. Support is requesting a hotfix from engineering that may fix this issue. I will receive it and have it installed next week. I will report back here with the results.

The patch appears to have fixed the problem. I applied patch 4289, which upgrades the Symmetrix Agent to 6.0.0.0.467, and I have not seen the error since.
