Repos file data transfer to Oracle database

Hi,

I have installed SAM and IP Manager in my environment on different servers.Could you  tell me how can I transfer the data from the repository file from both the servers to Oracle database of a third party reporting tool? Or is there any other way the tool can access the data for reporting purpose?

Thanks

Hi Surabhi,

any "transfer" / collection of Smarts data will occur using the Smarts API. Some tools may or may not include this collection layer (using the API) out-of-the-box. Example : Watch4Net APG does include a EMC Smarts/Ionix collector for both notifications and performance data. The collection is really easy to set up (basically the collector will discover all domains registered to the broker) and can be done remotely. You only need some credentials (the user used to connect to Smarts suite) and the IP:port of the broker. Then all data is immediately available for historical reports. Out of the box reports are available and you can custom them / create new ones.

Hello Surabhi,

What data are you looking at extracting from your repositories?  Notifications from SAM and hosts/routers/switches/etc from your IP domain perhaps?  Please clarify.

Thanks,

Hi Louie,

I am looking for transfering both the events/notifications from the SAM as well as the performance data from the domain managers to a third party reporting tool.

Thanks
