Quesiton about how to do ECC refreshing
hostA installed with ECC, hostB installed with SYMCLI
both connected to the same SYMETRIX array
I coud do storage allocation with either ECC or SYMCLI no problem.however from time to time, if I crate a meta or do som mapping or masking, say on SYMCLI ( on hostA), it would take a few hours for the change to be seen on ECC (on hostB). and this cause grief to collaguees that use only ECC. my questions is:
1. why this happes? is it because symapi_db.bin on ECC need to be refresh?
2. if #1 is true, is there a way for ECC to refresh it instantly? via a GUI. or is there a button that do the equivilent of symcfg -sid xxxx discover on ECC?
3. I noticed that under SDM agent polling interval , by default is 12 hours for discover_00 and Mask_Configure_00 is 6 hours. what is the performance implication what is a resonable value ?
Thanks.

Keep in mind that if you do mapping at the CLI you may have to force a symcfg discover on the host that has the Symm Agent. If I remember correctly that is...

1) ControlCenter Console should update based on the polling cycle of the applicable DCP. In your case, it'll be either a Symmetrix Agent or SDM Agent DCP (depends on what config operation you are doing at the time). The default schedules work fine in most environments.
2) No, there isn't any instant one-click refresh button in CC Console. The DCPs take care of refreshes.
3) As Allen pointed out, it depends on your environment - these values are fine in most cases. Your best bet it to temporarily tweak the DCPs to a lower value if you want. As long as the agent servers don't take a performance hit then the new values should be fine.
Finally, please ensure that Java (Console/Server/Store), Symmetrix Agent and SDM Agents are patched up to the latest revision within whatever CC version you are running. Many Console update issues have been resolved by hotfixes within the various CC versions.

how can I find more info about what various DCP is doing under the hood?
can the DCP pollling can be achive by
symcfg -sid xxxx discover && symmask -sid xxxx refresh ( on ECC host) ,
if I need ECC to refresh "instanty", or are there more than that?
Thanks.

ControlCenter can often be refreshed by bouncing the applicable agent. However, in CC 6.0/6.1 updates should be pretty close to real time (especially if you're running the latest patches).
Best to open a SR if you continue to see refresh issues.

It really depends on the Java (Server/Store/Console) patch level and applicable sub-agent patch level in combination with the DCPs. Some of the Java patches are specifically for refresh issues so that's why it's always a good idea to be running the 'latest and greatest' revision within a certain CC version.
If issues persist, then Support would need to analyse the appropriate agent logs and possibly the Store logs for transaction failures/exceptions etc.

Add the following line to the EGS.ini file before the line that says
[[Logging]]
skipCRCCheck=1
Then restart the agent
Adding the skipCRCCheck parameter in the EGS.ini file forces a full discovery and re-send all configuration data.
After all data is sent , if issue still persists then please open service request and provide the agent logs/Store logs for furthur investigation.
