Moving ControlCenter from physical to virtual host

I did a quick search for threads on virtualizing CC onto a VMware host but wanted to check if there were any updates from users actually running this way.

Couple questions...
I have a running 6.0 CC on a physical box. Can I P-toV this into a VMware hosted box. I understand I need to reattach RDM gateways to the virtual host.

How is the performance of CC running on a virtual host? It seems to me that now StorageScope and RamDB both run Oracle instances that the memory requirements may be too high for efficient virtualization?

My CC installation supports over 100 hosts, is this too big to virtualize considering the agent traffic demands to support all the host agent, symm agent, WLA and Perfmon data collections?

Any gotchas from virtualizing CC6 from experience? I know it is possible but is it really a good thing to do since our VMware 3.5 cluster is already very busy?

Hi zonie,

I haven't done this myself. However, some of my colleagues in the field have accomplished it via VMware Converter and by using clustersave/load scripts. There is also a product called Platespin that will do the conversion.

You should also reference the Installing ControlCenter in a VMware Environment Technical Notes doc out on Powerlink.
