Manually Adding Host in ECC 6.0

Sorry if this question has been answered before ...
How do you manually add a host to ECC in version 6.0? In 5.2 you simply right clicked on the Host Icon and the menu had a "new" option that you could even specify the host by OS. This capability is great when creating a new Boot from SAN host.

Geeze you just scared me there. I'm just finishing up an ECC 6.0 deployment (replaced 5.2) and we use this feature all the time.

But when I go into my 6.0 environment I can still right click on the top level Hosts folder and select new, and I get a flyout menu of different host types to create.

Are you saying that you don't see the "New" option when right clicking the host folder, or is it failing further on in the process?

Allen, thanks for the quick reply.
I don't get the "New" option in the menu that's displayed when I right click the top level Hosts folder icon.

I know the menus are context sensitive with respect to the "mode" buttons; what mode are you in? Administration is where I normally add hosts.

Hmmm... It works for me no matter what "mode" I'm in.

I'm starting to remember something about a tie in the StorageScope or ARM or something for this functionality. Can you check and make sure all your licenses are applied correctly?

I'll take a look at the docs and see if I can find what I'm thinking of.

I just realized I'm thinking of the ability to add new User Defined Groups, not new hosts.

I can't see (or remember) anything that would prevent you from adding new hosts. Just for the sake of being complete... can you list the menu items (in order) as you see them when you right click on the top level hosts folder?

Hi,

You need SAN Manager license key entered for ControlCenter to get an option to add new host.

This will fix the issue.

Thanks, but can you point to the doc where you found this?

I must have just missed it, but I'm curious.

Allen,

In ECC 6.0 Planning and Installation Guide
Page:29-30
8.2 Plan for SAN Manager

Topology view that shows a pictorial view of a SAN, including
user-defined objects and groups
, zone/zone set highlighting,
VSAN highlighting, and toggling on and off links belonging to a
selected object.

Hope the above information answers the question.
