Ionix CEC (Environment Checker) Hangs at Launch?
Has anyone else experienced issues with the IONIX CEC (ControlCenter Environment Checker) program appearing to hang when it is run?
I've launched this program and let it run for 15-20 minutes and it appears to just be frozen, however Microsoft Process Explorer shows a spawned cmd.exe that is running and has 6.25% CPU load consistent on it.
Is this thing freezing or has anyone seen it take more than 15-20 minutes to gather whatever it needs and launch?
I haven't found anything on PowerLink relating to this issue / fixes / workarounds. Have reviewed the Release Notes, etc. and can't figure out why it doesn't appear to be working.... unless it is working and it's just taking forever. It's running on the ECC Server, fairly beefy box, relatively low load, not a huge ControlCenter environment, etc.

Hi magentry,
Is the \ECC\Repository\admin\rambdb\bdump\alert_rambdb.log very large? If so, then the Environment Checker may not be capable of scanning it for Oracle ORA errors. This can cause the Checker to hang - the workaround is as follows:
1) Stop the Oracle services
2) Rename the alert_rambdb.log
3) Restart the Oracle services; a new alert_rambdb.log will then be created.
4) Restart the Environment Checker and hopefully it will now be completed successfully.
You will have to manually scan the original alert_rambdb.log for ORA errors. You should only be concerned with any recent errors - ones that go back several months should not be an issue.

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately that file is only 2,169KB.

Hi magentry,
It might be best to open to open a SR so that Support can investigate the issue via WebEx/collect logs etc.
