How to put an Alias on FA Port

Hi,

We have ControlCenter 6.1 and we manage our Cisco Directors (zoning) using it.

I noticed that when I go to Zoning--> Manager Zone there is a field called

"Alias Members".  Can I populate this?

I would like to have a friendly name for FA ports like 9aA so our SAN admins

will know that 9aA is for Windows and 10bA is for AIX etc...

Assuming that this can be done and this can be used for it,

is there a document that tells you how to do it?

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris,

To quote the ECC documentation:

You cannot actively manage zone aliases in ControlCenter. Support for zone aliases is limited to:

  • Discovering and importing aliases from Brocade and Cisco fabrics.
  • Displaying aliases in ControlCenter.
  • Adding aliases to zones.

ECC imports zone aliases during discovery when the Import inactive zone sets option is checked.  This is explalined in more detail in the Zoning Overview section of the online documentation in the ECC console.

For detailed information on how to manage aliases on Cisco switches, please refer to the product documentation.  In particular, the cookbook and configuration guide of the accompanying Cisco documentation will be of interest.

Kind Regards,
