host directors not reporting devices

running ECC 6.0.0.0.386
dmx200 with 5670.99 engenuity code level
Symm and SDM agents at 60.0.0..336

when I expand the Host Directors and drill down into a Host Director, it doesn't report the correct number of devices down a Dir path (if any at all).

Symmetrix Management Console does, however.

For example: 8A:A reports 0 devices in ECC when in actuality there are actually 116 devices.

We did a code upgrade on the DMX (don't remember what the prev level was) and then I noticed the problem, I do have a SR open but what SAC has suggested hasn't helped yet.

Has anyone seen this? I have to use SMC for now as ECC doesn't report the corrrect DMX info.

In the ECC Console can you look at the properties of the DMX array itself... check the far right hand columns to verify the last discovery date for the array to make sure discovery is working properly.

Last Discovered is Thu May 15 10:40EDT - I restarted the Symm agent.

I am running SE V6.4.0.0 and was told that was OK.

Have you verified the version of Solutions Enabler you are running on the host(s) with the Symmetrix/SDM agent(s) installed?

Hmmm... I'm not sure where I would go from there except for escalating a case with Support. If they can't come up with something reasonable I would escalate through my EMC Account team.

Hi,

Procedure for rediscovering the Symmetrix:
--------------------------------------------------------------

By removing the Symmetrix from the console you will lose ALL customizations that you have made. Examples of customizations which will not be rediscovered include, but are not limited to: Changed Object names, DCPs, & User Defined Groups.

If you do NOT wish to lose these customizations, please DO NOT follow the below procedure.

1) Locate the Primary Symmetrix Agent for the Symmetrix

2) Stop the Primary Symmetrix Agent
Wait for the yellow triangle to appear in the GUI signifying that the agent has stopped.

3) Stop the Primary SDM Agent
Wait for the yellow triangle to appear in the GUI signifying that the agent has stopped.

4) Right-click on the Symmetrix and Left-Click on "Delete..."
Wait for the Symmetrix to disappear from the console.

5) Re-start the Primary Symmetrix Agent. ( This will force a re-discovery of the entire Symm )

6) Re-start the Primary SDM Agent.

Please NOTE: The re-discovery of the Symm may take quite some time to complete.

yes, that would probably work. Support hasn't gotten back to me with any relevant answers so I may end up performing those steps.

Thanks.
