Has anyone "taken the plunge" with ECC 6.1 yet?

I will be upgrading our environment in a week and a half and I'm wondering if anyone else has gone through this and has any experiences to share.

If not I'll let you all know how it goes :-)

I think we are waiting on you to go first ;-)

... let me know how it goes. I was considering it as well but I think I will wait to see how your upgrade goes first :D

I understand Aran,

I wouldn't be doing it this soon if I didn't have to. We have mixed Brocade and McData fabrics and the FOS version required to make it work isn't supported by 6.0 :-( Plus we are going to Enginuity 5773 by end of year and that will require it as well.

Hi,

Quite a few customers have ordered CC 6.1 since the product went GA on July 17. However, I personally have not yet seen any open Service Requests in EMC Global Services for the European region.

The Release Notes, Planning and Installation Guide and/or Upgrade Guide, Performance & Scalability Guidelines, Support Matrix are all good places to start in terms of planning your 6.1 installation.

I just got through an installation, without major issues. Took about a day to get everything setup again.

Did you upgrade or replace?

Hi All,

I just installed 6.1 last week. I have an existing 5.2 SP5 install as well.

The install was pretty straightforward, although I still have to repoint all of our hosts to the new ControlCenter server. The main reason I wanted the install was to begin meaningful collections for our overloaded CX3-80. Also, I wanted to fully discover our new DMX4s.

So far, I'm pretty impressed with the stats collected for the clariion - a definite improvement (although that may have been there with 6.0, too).

I noticed this morning that I'm unable to clear alerts - investigating that now.....

Regards,
Julianne

Hey Julianne,

Long time no drink espresso! We should meet for some java next time I am downtown.

Thanks for the feedback on the install. So you did a new install and not an upgrade of your existing ECC server? Any reason, or just plain simpler?

The reason I didn't do an upgrade is that I was given new server hardware and I wanted to use it. Also, I thought a fresh install would be simpler and I was in a hurry to start WLA collections on the clariion.

This way I get my clariion and DMX4 WLA collections (ECC 6.1) immediately yet still get my host collections (ECC 5.2sp5) without having to devote hours/days to upgrading clients.

So, are you running 6.0 now?

Let me know the next time you're coming downtime - espresso-town - it would be great to catch up!

Yes we are running 6.0 now. I am considering going the upgrade route as I don't have a new hardware, and as we only have about 75 hosts in our primary data center that are monitored through ECC so the upgrade option isn't that big of an impact.

The big day is fast approaching (maybe I should call it the big week). Monday morning I'm starting the upgrade and we'll see how things go. I'll keep everyone posted.

I've had a few times where I haven't been able to clear alerts as well. Each time, a reboot resolved the issue for a few days or a week. Have you done anything to fix the problem?

Thanks!

I also had the problem with alerts not clearing. A reboot resolved the problem for me as well. I did open a SAC case, it appears that this is being reported by multiple users - not just we Support Forum Folks.

Happy Friday -

HOT ? You then have a better summer than we have over here in Europe. It's been very rainy the last few weeks :(

Hi Julianne,

Can you give me the number of the SR that you opened please? We have come across a similar issue here today in Europe and I want to cross-check it against your open ticket.

Thanks,
Séamus

Hi Seamus,

The SR is
Service Request ID: 25064892

EMC link emc116873 solution, but that wasn't the actual resolution.
