EMC SMARTS 9.4 discovery determines a switch is a host
We are using an Artesyn AXP 640 with ATCA-F125 Network Switches in conjunction with EMC SMARTS 9.4. During Discovery, when SMARTS detects the switches on the Artesyn, it determines that it is a host rather than a switch because it has an underlying OS of Wind River Linux 3.0.3 overlaid with SRStackware. Because SMARTS things it is a host, it stops there and doesn't go on to check the things that would normally be found on a switch, i.e. interfaces. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can convince SMARTS that the device is a switch so it will be checked correctly?

While browsing, I found discussion: https://community.emc.com/message/374470#374470
does anyone familiar with that process think that it might be applied to this situation?

It could be a similar situation, there is no harm in following the referenced solution emc109147 it is asking you to look and see if there is already certifications for a similar device from the same vendor that you may be able to copy and slightly adjust which might fix your issue.
If not I would follow emc305715 which shows what information you will need to gather from the device in question to give to EMC for them to certify that device.

Things just got more complicated. According to the Domain Manager Administration Console, the device _is_ CERTIFIED. I am not certain how that changes what I need to do to try to get it to report its CIM_CreationClassName/CreationClassName/DisplayClassName/Type correctly but it seems to make it more confusing. And I've been told that I have to be careful changing anything or other things that are correctly reporting their TYPE will and are of the same Model will change too and we don't want that.
