ECC Server Remote Desktop Problem

I want to have a remore desktop connection with my ECC Server, but it seems this service should be down. please advise me for any solution. I don't want to use solutions like VNC that shows my remote session on the ECC server screen.

Terminal Services work just fine ! So start an RDP session to work on the ECC server.

As RRR said, this works just fine. I think the only time you need the service down is when you are upgrading certain components. Makes it hard for me to do patches from halfway across the continent, but anything touching the Oracle database tends to fail if you try it through RDP.

If your server has a network console (DRAC, ILO, etc.) you can always use that to run any required patch updates. I would not recommend using this over RDP for day-to-day activity as they are typically slower and clunkier to use, but a nice alternative to flying to a remote site to install some updates.

I guess that depends on the remote site. If I could get my data center moved to Bermuda I wouldn't mind. Unfortunately Winnipeg, Manitoba IS NOT Bermuda (especially in the winter... I don't think Bermudians know what -50 feels like).

If It's a 2003 server, you can terminal serve into the console with mstsc /console /v:servername
