ECC Identity crisis/StorageScope problems/Migration Question

2 Separate questions here...
We have an ECC 6.0 Environment, split between 2 servers.

Server 1 runs our Repository, Store, Server, Performance Manager, WLA Archiver
Server 2 runs StorageScope, SMC

Question 1
When server 2 was created, it was put into a different subnet and had a different naming convention. We have just renamed it to match server 1 and to be put into the same subnet. We had slow communication between the two servers.

Problem is, its still thinking in some places that its the old name. I have gone through the Master Agent files and altered those to change to the new name. However, the FLA Archiver does not want to reactivate and i can't get logged into StorageScope. Anyone have any idea for a quick fix?.. or additional files to alter?

We are upgrading to 6.1 next week, would that possible fix it automatically?

Question 2
I would like to transfer the WLA archiver and Performance manager to Server 2. Any easy suggestions?

Thanks in advance for the help!

That's what my fears were for question 1, just wanted a verify. I've been going through everything... its not fun. Will I loose all the data that has been collected for StorageScope?

Question 2, that's what i was guessing, but i want to be able to transfer the WLA data from Server 1 to Server 2. If i uninstall the Archiver from 1, copy the data to 2 then install on 2 with that directory, should all the old information be there?

Thanks!

Hi,

My initial thoughts on this are that you may have to uninstall/reinstall the ControlCenter components on server 2. The reason for this is that StorageScope has references to the old hostname embedded in the repository database. I don't necessarily think upgrading to 6.1 will resolve the issue.

Re question 2 - you could uninstall PM on server 1 via the ControlCenter Uninstaller in Add/Remove Programs. Then simply re-add it on server 2. For the WLA Archiver agent you need to uninstall it from server 1 in the Console and then push it out to server 2.

Just FYI, for the identity problem, i figured out a band aid fix until i do the upgrade were i'll do the real fix.

I'm having our DNS server point traffic for the old name to the new name and so far everything appears happy with that.

Hi,

In regards to your Question#2, after installing WLA archiver on another server, you can manually move the WLA archive data and WLA reports to new directories. Old performance data is still visible through performce manager console.

Hi,

I don't think it'll be possible to preserve the StorageScope data. The migration utility for STS only works when one is upgrading ControlCenter (as opposed to a fresh install of STS which may be required here).

It may be worth opening a SR with the Support Center so that all the necessary information can be collected. Thereafter, a definitive decision can be made either way.

Hi,

No problem.

You are correct in what you said - a 'good' current export of the STS repository can be re-imported back into STS after you reinstall the component. I stress the word 'good' however - otherwise you will have to start from scratch with an empty STS DB...

Anyway, a SR will answer any remaining questions.

Good calls, and thanks.. i'll mark as answered.

Right now i was planning on doing an Export/Backup of the StorageScope Repository, hoping there would be some way to import the data post-reinstall.

Thanks for the help guys!
