ECC 6.1 UB8 with Clariion with Storage Pool

We plan to provide support for StoragePools in UB11, currently scheduled for April.

So, can you please recommend the workaround method for reporting storage pool capacity out of clariion? thanks.

Are you saying EMC is jumping from UB8 to UB11? what about other UB in between 9 and 10?

Why can't they include this in the next UB? why do we have to wait till Q1 2011 April? Storage pool is always available since Flare 29, which released early 2010. How come it takes so long for ECC to catch up? Especially for those companies who uses StorageScope to report the storage pool usage will be impossible to do their capacity reporting.

Please advise.

UB9 is scheduled for release in the next week or so (it has been released from QE and is being packaged/released for posting).  The main features in UB9 are support for FAST VP on the Symmetrix, plus additional platform support (including ZFS on Solaris).

We try to prioritize platform and feature support based on what is most prevalent in our install base.  Symmetrix is pretty much universally used by ECC customers, while Clariion is less common (but increasing).  That has led us to dedicate more resources to supporting new Symmetrix features, sometimes at the expense of the timeliness of support for new Clariion features.

I wish I could.  As the Support Matrix notes, StorageScope will report storage configured as StoragePools as Unconfigured.  Of cousre, the NaviCLI can tell you how that storage is configured, but you can't get that information back into StorageScope.

The question of why it takes so long to support new functionality in any of the product lines has been out there for a while. The best answers I've heard revolved around the way ControlCenter has grown over time without really changing the fundamental way that it deal with gathering, storing, and reporting on data. It sort of the same situation as we have been in for some time regarding ease of use. ControlCenter is an incredibly powerful and versatile suite... if you know how to use it. If you don't already know how to get what you need you probably aren't going to figure it out quickly by trial and error.

Now the good news. All indication are that the new SRM7 suite (Next Gen ControlCenter) will address both of these issues as core values of the design and architecture. We should gain significant ease of use (without sacrificing power and flexibility) and we should see significantly reduced times to support new features of managed equipment. I have seen some things that support this concept. I can't remember clearly which ones are still covered by NDA so I'm going to err on the side of caution and just say that I am convinced enough for now.

The real test will be after release of SRM7 when the first major feature gets added to supported hardware. I for one will rejoice at not having to make a call between ControlCenter visibility accross the board and features on the hardware.

How to disable the water mark DCP for FS, LV & VG in ECC server. I had a glance on the admin guide , i did not find it so far.. ECC 6.1.0.8-470.
