ECC 5.2 SP5 master agent works, host agent doesn't on Windows 2008

So I'm seeing some noise on the forums about ECC 6.0 not having supported master and host agents in regards to Windows 2008. What about ECC 5.2 sp5 (yes we are weeks away from upgrading to 6.1 so don't suggest that.) I can push the sp5 patch to the host, master agent starts up fine. I push the sp5 host agent and it pushes and starts but then dies and I can't restart it. The host admin doesn't see mnragent running so . . . is this a new security thing in 2008? Is there a fix or should I just wait until 6.1?

Hi,

Unfortunately, there is no agent support in 5.2 SP5 for Windows 2008 hosts. The Master Agent will usually install successfully even on a non-supported host - however, the problems begin when you install a sub-agent (like the Host Agent). It usually fails to install or dies upon startup.

Your best bet is to go to 6.1 if you want Windows 2008 support.
