DMX-3

The way the DMX-3 is configure the vmcdb is only on 2 FA 's
I was told by EMC that the server where you are going to put your master symmtirc and host and sdm agents should be on the fa where the vcmdb is and also have about 10-14 gatekeepers mask

I've been managing DMX's now for a few years and we decided to have the vcmdb made invisible for all hosts. Having GK's is enough. So far We've gone for 8 GK's per host, but I must add to that that we're running a distributed ECC environment and not just 1 ECC I-do-everything-host.
Pure for SymCLI having 2 GK's is enough in most cases. It depends on what you're going to do on that host.

We have 3 ECC hosts per site and on each site we can manage more DMX's. On the other site we have 3 more ECC hosts with agents and an extra store. In case of a disaster we can do a failover so the other site will be the primary ECC site.
On each site we have several hundreds of normal hosts. A normal host has no need for Solutions Enabler and therefore no gatekeepers are needed there.
