convert meta to standard volume.

Hi,
I creat meta device . but if i want to convert those meta to standard volume .meta was RAID 5 .
Is there any way convert this meta volume to standard volume. (if from ecc better).

If it's on DMX, the only way is host based mirroring AFAIK. If it's on Clariion you could use LUN migration from the meta to a new bigger LUN.

Can you confirm if there is any data on these metas yet, and if they have been assigned to a host?

Or are they just sitting there empty and you want to convert them?

If there is any data in meta device then remember to take a backup. and follow the procedures. When you dissolve and delete Meta it is automatically available on Standard Unmapped device folder.

Correct procedure to Delete Meta RAID 5 devices is as follow:



Dissolve meta device:
... right click on the array array -> configure -> meta device configuration -> on the right pane select the desired meta device and click on remove.

Click on continue and execute.

Once the above process completed, the dissolved meta devices should be in the standard RAID 5 device folder.

Right click on the devices -> configure -> delete logical device, then click on execute
