Controlcenter alerts

Hi i'm getting the following alerts on ecc console could some one explain why and how to resolve them.

Symmetrix has zero gate keepers available...I know this is a false alert bcoz we got 20 gatekeepers for this sym

Storage agent for symmetrix failed to communicate with gns daemon, check the gns daemon is running, operational and authorizations are in place..

Storage agent for symmetrix cannot go primary because no host can see it..

Thanks in advance..

Sorry for the delay. I was swamped leading up to the Christmas break.

So, The next steps I would take would be:

  • Confirm that the host with SE 7.1 running on it is the same host you deployed the Symmetrix Agent to
  • On the SE host, confirm that you can see the GKs and have defined them to be GKs using 'symgate list'

For the other issue, do you use GNS in your environment? If not, is it an issue if you get these alerts as long as it doesn't affect anything operationally?

OK, I'm going to start out really basic so we don't make any assumptions that slow thing down.

  • Have you confirmed that you Solutions Enabler is the right version for the the version and patch level of CC?
  • Has this ever worked for you, or is this a new deployment of CC or a Symm?
  • If this has never worked, the first thing I would check would be the Solutions Enabler connectivity to the Symm on the Symm Agent host. Make sure SE is working first with direct connectivity to the Symm (on the same host the Symm agent is running on)

Once we get some of these basics out of the way we can drill down (if we still need to).

Allen, Thanks for the reply.

We have 6.1UB5 and SE7.1 and SE is installed on a VMAX direct connected host and its working fine.

Allen,

1.Yes SE and sym agent are running on the same host.

2.Yup we have 20 gate keepers per management host.

We are not using GNS but the alerts are annoying also my manager is asking me to find out the reason for the alerts..

Thanks for the reply......
