Console Install

Within our organisation all applications deployed onto the desktops / laptops have to be packaged up and distributed via SMS.

Is there a way to get an extract of the Console install files and subsequently any console patches rather than install from the https://server:30002 webpage ?

Hi Martyn,

The Console installation files sit in the :\ECC\Tomcat\webapps\webinstall folder on the CC Server host e.g. EGC610 contains the 6.1 Base executable. Subsequent Console patches will be in their own individual folders e.g. Patch6105100 contains the UB5 Console executable.

Maybe you can share out the CC drive to remote client hosts in order to install the Console?

The other alternative (depending on your environment) would be to take the approach we do. The Console is not installed on any of our workstations. We use Terminal Services to connect to servers that have the console installed. At one of our sites. This could even be a VM if you have ESX deployed. That way you only have to keep the central consoles up to date and don't have to deploy anything to the desktops/laptops.

I know this doesn't work for everyone, but it does simplify things for us. It also helps with the fact that it doesn't matter where I am (or any of my team are)... we can still use the console. I have people located local to the CC infrastructure, but I also have people (including me) who are thousands of kilometers away from the servers.
