Change in AIX host name and IP

Does anyone know the easiest process to change an AIX host name and IP and have ECC recognize the new host?

For example, recently my UNIX sys admin renamed host axsc15mpar45 to axscgpar0486 and changed the IP to 10.10.999.99.
- After the rename and re-IP, the axsc15mpar45 host no longer appears in the ECC (6.1) console.
- The axscgpar0486 host is now in the console with the new IP, but so is a duplicate of this host with a console entry name of "axscgpar0486 (1)"

Hi,

Please check Knowledgebase article emc167939 "ControlCenter Agents: How do I configure ControlCenter Agents to always report the same host name?"

I know this is easier said than done, but from my perspective, a host that is being "repurposed" (especially if getting a new name and IP) is technically being decommitted and then implemented as a new host.

So.... all references to the old host should be removed during the decommit and the new host should be discovered as a new host. This would make things much cleaner.

Having said that, trying to convince my server support resources to even let me know if they are removing a host from the SAN is hard enough, let alone having them let me know when they are going to rebuild something that already has connectivity. I almost wish the management capability was tied into the storage connectivity itself so they couldn't do that without me knowing!
