Can not see "Group" and "LUN masking" info

Dear All,

I can not see "Group" and "LUN masking" info in ECC 5 console.
My ECC server does not have a HBA card, and just use netwok card to receieve the info.

Is this cause the issue?

Thanks for any input.

Couldn't he deploy a Symmetrix and SDM agent out on a host that does have an HBA (with Solutions Enabler installed and able to see gatekeepers and VCMDB)?

This should populate the group info (for the host with the agents deployed) and provide masking info for all hosts attached to the Symm.

Hi Dennis,

Yes, a server needs to have its HBA(s) discovered in ControlCenter in order to populate the Masking view within the Console.

If a server does not have any physical HBAs installed then you will not see any masking information for it.

Hi Seamus,

My ECC server does not have HBA card, but one of ECC clients has a HBA card.
I can get the LUN Masking info about the ECC client only.

Does ECC Server have HBA card can populate all LUN Masking info of all environment?

Thanks for the clarification.

Hi Dennis,

You definitely will not see any masking information in CC Console if there is no HBA card physically installed AND if the HBA is not discovered by the Host Agent.

I believe what you are seeing is expected behaviour i.e. the client host has a HBA so you can see its masking info whereas the server has no HBA and you cannot see any masking info in the Console.

Yep, Allan, good point - I should have thought of that. That could work also.
